The Matanzas Pirates pushed their score all the way to 68 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 79-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palatka. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (64), Matanzas still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Matanzas still got an impressive performance from Rya'sir Jefferson , who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 6 assists. Those 32 points set a new season-high mark for him. Henry Robinson Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Matanzas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Palatka, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Matanzas won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fletcher at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th. Fletcher will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Palatka and Atlantic Coast will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Atlantic Coast comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
