The Y Yuma waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Brush with a sharp 53-28 win. With Y ahead 32-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Among those leading the charge was Jade Lungwitz, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Bailey Nighswonger was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Brush's loss came despite strong showings from Brisa Aguirre-Garcia and Jocelynn Middlemist. Aguirre-Garcia scored eight points along with three blocks, while Middlemist scored seven points.
Y's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Brush, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Y will be home for the holidays to greet Rangely at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rangely presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Y in Colorado (Rangely is ranked fifth, while Y is ranked 44th). As for Brush, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Tuesday.
