The Horeb Christian Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-28 loss at the hands of Franklin Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Horeb Christian has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Horeb Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonathan Gonzalez. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points.
Robert Guishard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Franklin Academy, dropping a triple-double on 22 points, 23 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Those 12 blocks set a new season-high mark for Guishard. Another player making a difference was Jayden Poyser, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Horeb Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Franklin Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horeb Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hebrew Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Hebrew Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Horeb Christian in Florida (Hebrew Academy is ranked 83rd, while Horeb Christian is ranked 556th). Franklin Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Somerset Academy Central Miramar at 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
