The Ignite Athletics Flames will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Rose Hill Christian Royals at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Ignite Athletics and five for Rose Hill Christian.
Ignite Athletics struggled with threes last Monday (Expression Prep Academy had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ignite Athletics was dealt a 79-38 defeat at the hands of Expression Prep Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Charlie Hanks, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. He scored a full 34.2% of Ignite Athletics' points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Stricklin, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Rose Hill Christian had to suffer through a rough 75-35 loss at the hands of Elliott County. Rose Hill Christian has struggled against Elliott County recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Ignite Athletics bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rose Hill Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Ignite Athletics and Rose Hill Christian were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but Ignite Athletics came up empty-handed after a 66-65 loss. Can Ignite Athletics avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
