It was a good run, but The Naples Golden Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 38-17 walloping at the hands of American Heritage. Naples was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-3.
Despite the loss, Naples still got an impressive performance from Shawn Simeon, who rushed for 181 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Simeon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards.
Byron Louis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Naples' defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for American Heritage, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Naples will take on Bonita Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonita Springs is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for American Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Hallandale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hallandale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 368th, while American Heritage is ranked fifth).
