Sterlin Casey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Morrison: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brady Petree, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Frontier didn't have quite enough to beat Cimarron on Monday and fell 3-2.
Luke Draffin put in work no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Draffin was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season.
Draffin wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kolton Ingmire, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Garrett Williams also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Frontier's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Morrison, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Frontier's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morrison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Frontier, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Morrison's hitters?
Everything went Morrison's way against Frontier when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Morrison made off with an 11-5 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
