The Antwerp Archers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Edgerton 56-40. Given Antwerp's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Edgerton is ranked 713th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Landon Brewer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Antwerp's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Altimus, who scored 18 points.
Antwerp's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Edgerton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antwerp will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Paulding at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Paulding is on a four-game streak of home wins, Antwerp a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Edgerton, they will head out on the road to face off against Tinora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tinora is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
