Lyndhurst is 10-0 against the Lions since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Lyndhurst Golden Bears will face off against the Leonia Lions at 2:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Lyndhurst strolled past the Aviators with points to spare, taking the game 41-24.
Lyndhurst's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Asya Akar, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Akar hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Brooke Harper was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Leonia gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They breezed by Bergen Charter at home to the tune of 39-7. The win was just what Leonia needed coming off of a 67-39 loss in their prior match.
Lyndhurst's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. As for Leonia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lyndhurst against the Lions when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as the team secured a 64-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lyndhurst since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
