Plum is on a three-game streak of home losses, Armstrong a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Plum Mustangs will take on the Armstrong River Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Plum has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Plum pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 79-55 defeat at the hands of Northgate. While losing is never fun, Plum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Northgate is ranked 160th).
Armstrong posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Knoch out 48-46.
Jack Valasek was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Szep, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Plum's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Armstrong, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Plum came up short against Armstrong when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 48-37. Can Plum avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
