Danville is 7-1 against South Vermillion since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 10:00 a.m.
Danville's last matchup with Cascade could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Warriors lost 20-8 to the Cadets. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Boedee Allison and Ethan Wooten did some serious damage despite the final result: Allison went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Wooten went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run was Allison's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aiden Chiodo, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Vermillion). They put the hurt on North Central with a sharp 20-10 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won eight in a row.
Dallas Coleman and Parker Weir did most of the damage at the plate: Coleman went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI, while Weir went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Coleman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Lemmons, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Danville's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for South Vermillion, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Danville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Vermillion struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Danville was able to grind out a solid win over South Vermillion when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-4. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
