Lee Williams can attribute much of their success to Lucas Leist, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and Thomas Doxtader, who gained 97 total yards and two touchdowns. Leist also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making a tackle.
Lee Williams wouldn't let Sierra Linda keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jose Abrego, Leist, and Shane Miranda picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Wickenburg made easy work of Parker on Thursday and carried off a 26-6 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wranglers have posted against the Broncs since August 24, 2018.
Nick Formica had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Wickenburg's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aidan Wayas. He is also on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as he's now snagged at least one in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Jesse Pittman was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and making ten total tackles (3.5 for loss).
The win got Lee Williams back to even at 1-1. As for Wickenburg, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything came up roses for Lee Williams against Wickenburg when the teams last played back in September of 2023 as the squad secured a 43-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lee Williams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
