There's no place like home for the McEwen Warriors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 72-60 victory over Perry County on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Perry County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jake Mercer, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Mercer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Colton Pevahouse was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Perry County were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
McEwen pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Perry County, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McEwen will challenge Waverly Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Perry County, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
