Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southeast Career Tech). They blew past the Cheyenne Desert Shields 20-1 on Monday. Considering the Roadrunners have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Briggs Barlow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Southeast Career Tech got a massive performance out of Nathan Johnson, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in April of 2024. Bruce Trzpis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Southeast Career Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cheyenne only posted an OBP of .211.
The win made it two in a row for Southeast Career Tech and bumps their season record up to 12-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Cheyenne, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.
