Brevard hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. The game will give Brevard their first taste of in-conference action this season.
Last Friday, Brevard came up short against Erwin and fell 5-2. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly three runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin). They put the hurt on Tuscola with a sharp 20-2 victory on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Suzanna Cabe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Cabe was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendall Rumans, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makayla Pendergrass, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Brevard's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Franklin, their record is now 6-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Brevard hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Brevard couldn't quite get it done against Franklin in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 as they fell 12-7. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
