The Bay Rockets's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-53 win over Perkins. The victory was all the more spectacular given Bay's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Pirates are ranked 181st).
Bay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Alexy out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Alexy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachi Coursen, who scored 13 points along with six assists.
Bay's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Perkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bay's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Demons at 7:15 p.m. on February 2nd. Westlake is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Perkins, they will be playing at home against the Blue Streaks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sandusky's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
