After flying high against the Maple Shade Wildcats last Monday, the Schalick Cougars came back down to earth. Schalick fell 53-45 to Penns Grove on Tuesday. Schalick has struggled against Penns Grove recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading Penns Grove to victory were Mekhi Ballard and Giomar Conrad. Ballard scored 19 points along with two steals, while Conrad scored 23 points along with two steals.
Schalick has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Penns Grove, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Schalick will take on Overbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Overbrook presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Schalick in New Jersey (Overbrook is ranked 116th, while Schalick is ranked 386th). As for Penns Grove, they will be playing at home against Pennsville Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Penns Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
