The Armwood Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 25 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat East Bay 51-14 at home. Given Armwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while East Bay is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Armwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Na'Chauncia Welch, who scored 18 points along with six assists and five steals. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. Aniyah Moreno was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Armwood and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for East Bay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Armwood will challenge Chamberlain at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. East Bay and Lennard will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lennard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
