Heavener hasn't had much luck against Panama recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolves will square off against the Razorbacks at 4:00 p.m. Heavener has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Heavener fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Roland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 13-6 to the Rangers.
Spencer Clubb was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Brently Hash was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Panama ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Oktaha 10-9. Winning may never get old, but the Razorbacks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Aryn Seamans made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Brewer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Tyler Simkins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Panama hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in three consecutive matches.
Heavener's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Panama, their record now sits at 9-2.
Heavener suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Panama in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
