Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Gaithersburg Trojans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 41-14 loss at the hands of Churchill on Friday. Gaithersburg's defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
David Avit was his usual excellent self, rushing for 207 yards and five touchdowns. Avit has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last seven times he's played.
Gaithersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Churchill, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Gaithersburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Churchill will stay at home for another week and welcome Bethesda-Chevy Chase at 6:30 p.m. on November 17th.
