Winside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brayden Lurz, who went 6-for-8 en route to 13 points, and Jahiem Hamik, who posted 11 points and four steals. Hamik is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Paulsen, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Winside was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tri County Northeast came up short against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday and fell 63-53. The Wolfpack haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Winside will have to contain Thatcher Lamp as he made an impact in Tri County Northeast's last game. He dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Landyn Servine was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 rebounds.
Tri County Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Winside, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Winside has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22 boards per game. However, it's not like Tri County Northeast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
