Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Horizon Hawks proved on Friday. They blew past Thompson Valley 77-39 at home. This was payback for Horizon, who suffered a 83-77 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Horizon found their leader in underclassman Boaz Wisne, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Greene, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Thompson Valley still got an impressive performance from Brady Kennison, who scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chase Manzani, who scored 11 points.
The win got Horizon back to even at 1-1. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Smoky Hill at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. As for Thompson Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Morgan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
