The Carson Cougars will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the A.L. Brown Wonders at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Carson comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Carson, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-25 loss to Lake Norman Charter. Carson has not had much luck with Lake Norman Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Carson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rylee Hedrick, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Carpenter, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, A.L. Brown put another one in the bag on December 8th to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Purnell Swett with a sharp 47-26 victory. Considering A.L. Brown has won five matchups by more than 19 points this season, December 8th's blowout was nothing new.
A.L. Brown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sadie Faulkner, who scored 16 points. Faulkner continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Makenzie Goode-Roberts was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Carson bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for A.L. Brown, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Carson took a serious blow against A.L. Brown when the teams last played back in November, falling 57-19. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Carson was down 37-10.
