The Carolina International Comets will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Queen's Grant Stallions at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Carolina International suffered their closest defeat yet this season last Wednesday. They fell just short of Piedmont Community Charter by a score of 57-55. It was the first time this season that Carolina International let down their fans at home.
Despite their defeat, Carolina International saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malaki Long, who scored 17 points along with five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Steven Jefferson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Queen's Grant suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 85-60 loss at the hands of South Charlotte T. Queen's Grant was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-24.
Despite the loss, Queen's Grant got a solid performance out of Garrett Morgan, who scored 26 points along with eight assists and five steals. Morgan is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Darian Nhek was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists.
Carolina International's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-7. As for Queen's Grant, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-8.
Everything came up roses for Carolina International against Queen's Grant when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 82-44 win. With Carolina International ahead 41-20 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
