The Sissonville Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Lewis County Minutemen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sissonville comes in on four and Lewis County on six.
Sissonville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Monday with ease, bagging a 50-22 win over Poca. Given Sissonville's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Poca is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sissonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kynadee Britton, who scored 19 points along with four steals. The contest was Britton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makinley Britton, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Even though Lewis County has not done well against Fairmont Senior recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lewis County beat Fairmont Senior by the very same score they won with last week: 81-43. Lewis County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 27 points or more this season.
Sissonville pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lewis County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Sissonville beat Lewis County 37-30 in their previous meeting back in February. Will Sissonville repeat their success, or does Lewis County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
