Smith County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Cannon County Lions. Five seems to be a good number for the Owls as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Bennett Gammon was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Montgomery, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Smith County's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Cannon County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smith County will venture away from home to challenge Pope John Paul II at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pope John Paul II has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Smith County will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cannon County, they will take on Grundy County at 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
