Basketball Recap: Central Jersey College Prep Comes Up Short

Central Jersey College Prep's game on Thursday was all tied up 34-34 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to the Belvidere County Seaters. Central Jersey College Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Central Jersey College Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Carter Staton, who posted 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. The contest was Staton's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Chouloute, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Central Jersey College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Central Jersey College Prep now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Belvidere, they moved to 1-4 with that win, which also ended their 15-game losing streak.

Central Jersey College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-33 victory against Paterson Arts & Science on the 10th. As for Belvidere, they will square off against Sussex County Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
