The Mart Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 57-41 bruising from Riesel. Mart was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riesel apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Riesel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Hawkins out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Hawkins continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Cooper Schroeder was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Mart dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Riesel, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mart will take on Marlin at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Marlin will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Mart surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riesel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hubbard at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Riesel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
