Mt. Vernon is 7-1 against Evansville Harrison since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wildcats will take on the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Evansville Harrison took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Vernon, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Mt. Vernon made easy work of Washington and carried off a 23-3 victory.
Alaina Allyn and Janie Bohleber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Allyn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bohleber didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Allyn scored four runs while going 2-for-6, while Bohleber scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Allyn a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Gloria Guerrero was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Ali Lyke was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.
Mt. Vernon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, Evansville Harrison fell victim to Evansville Reitz and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Evansville Harrison saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaslyn Wade, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That hit was Wade's first of the season.
Evansville Harrison dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mt. Vernon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Mt. Vernon's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Evansville Harrison, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mt. Vernon continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Mt. Vernon's way against Evansville Harrison in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Mt. Vernon made off with a 13-5 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
