The South Lenoir Blue Devils suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-28 walloping at the hands of East Duplin. While losing is never fun, South Lenoir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while East Duplin is ranked 69th).
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexus Haddock, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Gracie Tyndall, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
South Lenoir has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for East Duplin, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Lenoir will take on North Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Duplin, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Wallace-Rose Hill at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Wallace-Rose Hill is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
