It was a good run, but the Marionville Comets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 48-39 to Diamond. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marionville in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.
Marionville's loss came despite strong showings from Dally Pomeroy and Lucy Newberry. Pomeroy dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Newberry scored 22 points along with three steals. Newberry is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played.
Marionville's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Diamond, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Marionville will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Diamond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
