The Berkeley Stags won the last time they faced the Timberland Wolves, and things went their way on Friday too. Berkeley came out on top against Timberland by a score of 43-32. Given Berkeley's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Timberland is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Berkeley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Thomas led the charge by scoring 11 points. Imani Levey was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Timberland's loss came despite strong showings from Tashee Roberts and Zion Prioleau. Roberts scored 2 points along with 10 blocks, while Prioleau scored 13 points. Prioleau scored a full 40.6% of Timberland's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of China Greene, who scored 7 points.
Even though they lost, Timberland were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley only pulled down four.
The win makes it two in a row for Berkeley and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Timberland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Berkeley will head out on the road to face off against Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Timberland, they will square off against North Charleston at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. North Charleston is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
