The Hernando Leopards scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Hudson with points to spare, taking the game 72-55. The win was just what Hernando needed coming off of a 78-39 defeat in their prior match.
Hernando got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron Laskey out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Laskey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Josiah Wright was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Hudson had strong showings from Jowell Andujar, who scored 18 points, and Tejacion Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Chapman is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Huggan, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Hudson were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The victory got Hernando back to even at 10-10. As for Hudson, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hernando will challenge Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Hudson, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunedin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 14 consecutive losses for Dunedin and six for Hudson.
