The Southern Wayne Saints suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 45-22 loss at the hands of South Johnston. Southern Wayne was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Johnston apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Kymora Stokes and Jaycee Hargrove certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Stokes scored seven points, while Hargrove scored five points.
Southern Wayne's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.5 points per game. As for South Johnston, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Southern Wayne will be playing at home against East Wake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Johnston, they will head out on the road to challenge Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
