Softball Recap: Wheeler Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wheeler had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Stafford Bulldogs as they made off with a 22-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Molly Perkins was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addie Stanley, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Wheeler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Wheeler's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.2 runs. As for Stafford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Wheeler will host Plainfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stafford, they are taking a road trip to take on Rockville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
