Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jontavuis Lett and J.T. Barlow Lead Hillcrest to Victory

Hillcrest had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past the Straughn Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 66-52. That's more bragging rights for the Jaguars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Hillcrest to victory were J.T. Barlow and Jontavuis Lett. Barlow went 11 for 18 on his way to 23 points and six steals, while Lett dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Barlow has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Dorian Watson was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points.

Hillcrest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Straughn, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Coincidentally, Hillcrest and Straughn will both be playing Georgiana the next time they take the court. Hillcrest will head out to face Georgiana at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Straughn will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
