2A-2 Region II District 6 recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region II District 6 this week, Scurry-Rosser beat Rice 53-9. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Millsap scaled the state rankings by moving to 962 from 1,074 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to move up by defeating Rio Vista 20-0.
Mildred's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Will Burnham threw for 217 and 2 touchdowns and Draylon Sterling had 106 yards receiving. On the ground Sterling chipped in 157 yards. Russell Holden helped Mildred's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 59 yards.
He was 11-22 with 1 interception.
Sterling was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 157 yards as the Eagles topped Blooming Grove. Holden also contributed to the rushing game with 23 yards on the ground.
Mildred's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Burnham has thrown for 592 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Holden has 10 catches for 246 yards.
A big matchup in 2A-2 Region II District 6 this week will be when Tolar takes on Millsap. At the moment, the Rattlers are in second, while Kyle Coker's team is in fourth.
