Basketball Recap: Oak Forest's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Oak Forest entered their contest against Southeastern HomeSchool on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Oak Forest Warriors lost 71-50 to the Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Oak Forest still got an impressive performance from Tyler Woolard, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The game was Woolard's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Wyld, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Oak Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Blake Batts continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southeastern HomeSchool, going 8 of 17 on his way to 25 points along with six boards and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Batts has scored at least a third of Southeastern HomeSchool's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Canon Lang, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Oak Forest's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-6. As for Southeastern HomeSchool, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Oak Forest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-42 win against Durham Flight HomeSchool on the 4th. As for Southeastern HomeSchool, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-50 victory against Chatham HomeSchool on the 4th.
