Vernon-Verona-Sherrill was handed a 20-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Holland Patent on Tuesday. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill came out on top in a nail-biter against Holland Patent and snuck past 55-52. The win was just what Vernon-Verona-Sherrill needed coming off of a 46-26 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Oneida put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 50-45 win over Rome Free Academy. Given Oneida's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Rome Free Academy is ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season. As for Oneida, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill suffered a grim 42-18 defeat to Oneida when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Vernon-Verona-Sherrill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
