Rosholt is 0-4 against Manawa since May of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Hornets will host the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Rosholt has given up an average of 16.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rosholt is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Pittsville, falling 12-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last seven times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Rosholt saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Zblewski, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Ruby Calhoun also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Manawa won against Shiocton on Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wolves had just enough and edged out Wittenberg-Birnamwood 4-2. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Olivia Zielke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lily Krenke was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bre Bonikowske, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Rosholt's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Manawa, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rosholt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Manawa struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rosholt couldn't quite get it done against Manawa in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
