Kyle Redquest spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Canton's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-7-1 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Gibbons, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Teddy Shuman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Nipmuc Regional waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They skirted past the Blue Raiders 3-1. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Blue Raiders on their field since April 11, 2022.
Nipmuc Regional also got a great performance from Dylan Muccini as he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Muccini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nipmuc Regional saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Dubowik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Nipmuc Regional pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Canton, their win bumped their record up to 9-7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Canton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Nipmuc Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Canton couldn't quite finish off Nipmuc Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
