The Yoakum Bulldogs posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Industrial and snuck past 53-50. The win made it back-to-back wins for Yoakum.
Leading Yoakum to victory were Destiny Rios and Jayana Phillips. Rios scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Phillips scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season.
Yoakum is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. As for Industrial, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-15.
Yoakum will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Columbus at 6:15 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Karlee Mathis and Phillips. As for Industrial, they will head out on the road to challenge Palacios at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palacios is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
