Softball Recap: Legacy Wins Going Away Against South East

While Legacy put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for South East. The Tigers blew past the Jaguars 11-0. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Savannah Medina made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Katelen Pedroza and Natalie Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Pedroza went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI, while Gonzalez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Those two runs gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Adamary Leon was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South East only posted a batting average of .000.

Legacy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for South East, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Legacy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-1 win against Garfield on the 9th. As for South East, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bell Gardens at 2:30 p.m. on the 21st.
