Sloan-Hendrix took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Buffalo Island Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Greyhounds won by a run and slipped past the Mustangs 7-6. While the Greyhounds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Wilson Dean was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Sullens, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Sloan-Hendrix pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Buffalo Island Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sloan-Hendrix will welcome Cedar Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buffalo Island Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Poinsett County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
