EAGLE LAKE, Fla. -
Lake Gibson (Lakeland, Fla.) took an early lead against Lake Region (Eagle Lake, Fla.) and held on for a 52-0 victory on Saturday.
The Braves put up 14 points in the opening quarter. Lake Gibson scored on a touchdown run by
Chris Clarke and a
Thomas Boles touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Clarke in the first quarter, LG led 35-0 at the half.
The Lakeland school expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. The Braves scored two times in the third, including once on a
Trey Congdon touchdown pass to
Jeremy Crissey.
Clarke stood out for Lake Gibson in the win. The junior running back ran for one touchdown and caught two touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
LG came in allowing an average of 18.4 points per game this season.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Lakeland school came away with a 41-7 victory.
Lake Region (3-4) goes up against Tenoroc in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Lake Gibson (4-2) locks horns with Largo also in a non-conference game.
