North Shore hasn't had much luck against Atascocita recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, North Shore didn't have quite enough to beat Channelview and fell 3-2.
North Shore wouldn't go down easily and took Channelview into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-18, 16-25, 18-25, 15-5.
Zyriah Hailey put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 19 digs and three aces.
Meanwhile, Atascocita came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with ten straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 3-0 win.
While Atascocita might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Kingwood scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 27-25, 25-23.
Atascocita's victory bumped their record up to 22-7. As for North Shore, their loss dropped their record down to 11-20.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: North Shore has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Atascocita struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
North Shore suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Atascocita when the teams last played back in September. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
