Baseball Recap: Dieterich Comes Up Short

Dieterich lost against Altamont back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Movin Maroons fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Movin Maroons have lost by just one run.

Lucas Westendorf was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dieterich saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Ashley, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Dieterich has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Altamont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.

Dieterich wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-3 loss against Vandalia on the 10th. As for Altamont, they have also already played their next contest, a 1-0 defeat against Arcola on the 10th.
