The Chanhassen Storm pushed their score all the way to 77 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 86-77 to Wayzata. While losing is never fun, Chanhassen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Wayzata is ranked 29th).
Despite the loss, Chanhassen had strong showings from Lauren Arnold, who scored 22 points along with three steals, and Kate Arnold, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Arnold posted two or more blocks. Lyla Hentges was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Chanhassen struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Chanhassen's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-3. As for Wayzata, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Chanhassen will head out on the road to face off against Spring Lake Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayzata will be home for the holidays to greet Elk River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
