If the Durant Cougars were riding high off their 77-53 takedown of the Chipley Tigers on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Durant lost to Thompson on the road by a decisive 75-57 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Durant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 182nd in Florida, while Thompson is ranked 19th in Alabama).
Despite the loss, Durant still got an impressive performance from Austin White , who scored 25 points. White scored a full 43.9% of Durant's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wylde Correa , who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds.
Durant's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Thompson, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Durant won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Franklin Road Academy at 4:00 p.m. on December 30th. Franklin Road Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Thompson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lipscomb Academy at 11:30 a.m. on December 30th.
