Baseball Recap: Nipmuc Regional Wins Going Away Against Sutton

Nipmuc Regional won the last time they faced Sutton and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors blew past the Sammies/Suzies 9-2. The Warriors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.

Alex Varney made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Varney was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nipmuc Regional got a massive performance out of Zach Duplessis, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Duplessis a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jackson Allcock, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Nipmuc Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sutton only posted an OBP of .355.

Nipmuc Regional has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.5 runs this season. As for Sutton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
