The Metro Tech Knights's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They snuck past Cholla with a 44-40 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Metro Tech also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Metro Tech's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yaritzi Layva, who scored 16 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Layva has scored at least 25% of Metro Tech's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaris Ozuna, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Metro Tech's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Cholla, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metro Tech won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Maryvale at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. Hopefully Maryvale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Cholla, they will be playing at home against Mica Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
